Car crashes through wall outside beauty shop, lands on fire hydrant

ROCK HILL –

A driver crashed through a brick wall outside a Rock Hill hair salon and into a fire hydrant Wednesday in Rock Hill, police say.

Police responded to a one-vehicle wreck around 8:30 a.m. and found an abandoned Honda Civic sitting on top of a hydrant at Diva Designs Hair Studio, 503 W. Main Street, according to a Rock Hill police report.

It appears the driver was making a left turn off Constitution Boulevard onto West Main Street but missed the turn. By the time police arrived, the driver had fled the scene.

Police found several open and empty beer cans in the vehicles, along with a half empty case of beer, the report states.

The vehicle belonged to someone in Lancaster. Dispatch called Lancaster Police to get contact information for the owner, but Lancaster officials were unable to provide any details, the report states.

The vehicle was towed.

Damage was estimated at $5,000 for the brick wall and $500 for the fire hydrant.
